Global fan anticipation for BTS's new album continues to surge ahead of its release.
According to BigHit Music, a label under HYBE Music Group, BTS's fifth studio album "ARIRANG" has surpassed 4 million pre-saves on Spotify, the global audio streaming platform.
The album crossed 1 million pre-saves within two days of becoming available, maintaining steady growth to reach the 4 million milestone. Industry watchers are keen to see how high the pre-save count will climb in the remaining two weeks before release.
"ARIRANG" claimed the top spot on Spotify's "Countdown Chart Global" as of March 4, marking seven consecutive weeks at No. 1. The chart tracks pre-save figures for upcoming albums and singles, serving as a key indicator of global music fan expectations.
BTS will release "ARIRANG" at 1 p.m. on March 20, followed by "BTS THE COMEBACK LIVE|ARIRANG" at 8 p.m. on March 21 in the Gwanghwamun Square area in Seoul. The performance will be livestreamed on Netflix for global audiences. A previously released trailer featuring ARMY chants from past concerts and visuals of the seven members against Gyeongbokgung Palace has heightened anticipation to a fever pitch.
The new album contains 14 tracks capturing "BTS as they are now." The title track "SWIM" conveys a message about pushing forward through life's waves without stopping. The song expresses the determination to navigate oncoming currents at one's own pace, framed as "love for life." RM handled the overall lyrics, adding authenticity to the track's message.
