OpenAI and Fastcampus, an education platform operated by Day1Company, said Thursday they will jointly host an artificial intelligence education event for senior citizens to mark Parents' Day.
The two companies will run a ChatGPT training program for about 35 middle-aged and senior participants aged 50 and older from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday at the Seoul AI Hub Center. The event will proceed in the order of basic AI education, hands-on ChatGPT planning and production sessions, and participant presentations and awards. Participants will experience practical AI applications closely tied to daily life, including information searches, everyday communication, and life planning.
The two companies plan to use the event to improve AI accessibility for seniors and narrow the digital divide. Deeps de Silva, Head of Education for Asia-Pacific at OpenAI, said, "We designed this so that participants can directly experience AI as a tool anyone can use in daily life." He added, "In Korean society, where aging is progressing rapidly, we hope seniors will receive practical help from generative AI not only in daily life but also in self-development and preparing for new careers."
