LG Uplus (032640.KS) announced Wednesday that it has developed a "Network Open API Gateway" platform in partnership with telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ariatech to revitalize the telecommunications industry ecosystem.
Network Open APIs are technologies that standardize network functions held by telecom carriers and make them available to external developers and companies. Through the platform, external developers can easily adopt verified telecom carrier functions in API format, reducing the time and cost required for service development.
LG Uplus's Network Open API platform provides APIs that enhance personal information and financial security, including device number authentication, SIM change information, device location information, device status information, and device change information. For example, external developers can improve financial services through LG Uplus's Network Open API platform. Banks can compare mobile phone location information when customers withdraw cash from ATMs to verify identity and prevent financial fraud.
"Through this Network Open API platform development, we have laid the foundation for developing innovative services that can provide new customer value," said Lee Sang-hun, Head of Advanced Development at LG Uplus. "We will work to secure core future network technologies that customers need to create a brighter and more sustainable world."
Ko Hong-ki, CEO of Ariatech, said, "This joint development is a meaningful case where Ariatech's technology has been realized within the standard API ecosystem built by LG Uplus. We will continue to work closely with LG Uplus to advance core infrastructure that leads the next-generation telecommunications market."
