Suseok Cultural Foundation, a public-interest foundation under Dong-A Socio Group, is strengthening support for future talent by expanding the scope of its scholarship program. The initiative aims to provide a stable learning environment for students who continue their studies despite economic and social hardships.
Suseok Cultural Foundation said it held the "2026 Academic Year Scholarship Certificate Ceremony" on Tuesday at the auditorium of Building N at Dong-A Socio Group's headquarters in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. Park Kwang-soon, chairman of Suseok Cultural Foundation, and Kim Min-young, CEO of Dong-A Socio Holdings (000640.KS), attended the event, presenting scholarship certificates to 20 newly selected scholars and delivering messages of encouragement. The foundation plans to support approximately 53 students, including the new recipients, this year.
In particular, starting this year, the foundation expanded the eligibility for its scholarship program to include college students from child-headed households. The foundation explained that the initiative goes beyond simple living expense support, aiming to help students concentrate on their studies and become self-reliant members of society despite economic and social difficulties.
The day of the ceremony also marked the 39th anniversary of the foundation's establishment. Founded on May 13, 1987, Suseok Cultural Foundation has been running its scholarship program with the goal of "nurturing talent that cares for others." Through last year, cumulative scholarship payments have reached approximately 4.4 billion won, supporting a total of 2,125 students.
"It is important to create an environment where students can relieve their financial burden and focus solely on their studies and their future," an official from Suseok Cultural Foundation said. "We will continue to support students who will lead the future of our society so that they do not give up on their dreams."
