Gachon University has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Korea Testing Certification Institute (KTC) for cooperation and professional talent development in future advanced industries including semiconductors, AI, and biohealth, the university said Thursday.
Key officials from both institutions, including Suh Won-sik, Head of Gachon University's External Cooperation Office, and Yoon Il-jun, Head of KTC's Management Strategy and Marketing Division, held the signing ceremony at the mid-sized conference room in Gachon Hall on the same day, pledging cooperation between the two institutions.
Under the agreement, the two sides will pursue joint research and development (R&D) in advanced industries, expand industry-academia cooperation, and jointly develop technical standards and guidelines in the field of physical AI.
Specific areas of cooperation include joint research on next-generation strategic industries such as AI, semiconductors, future mobility, and biohealth; the development of technical standards for ensuring standardization, safety, and reliability in physical AI; testing and certification consulting support for companies housed in industry-academia cooperation foundations and startup incubation centers; the operation of field training and employment-linked programs; and the fostering of specialized talent through linkage with graduate school curricula.
Gachon University, which established the world's first College of Semiconductors in 2024, plans to combine its accumulated educational capabilities with KTC's testing and certification infrastructure to achieve two goals at once: cultivating practical semiconductor talent and advancing technology.
