Dong-A Pharmaceutical, the number one in cold medicine sales, also launched “Panpirin Night Liquid” in September, which excluded caffeine and added diphenhydramine from the existing comprehensive cold medicine PanpirinQ, and Daewon Pharmaceutical (003220) also launched “Cole Daewon Night Syrup” last year to target the nighttime cold medicine market.
Hanmi Pharmaceuticals (128940) introduced 3 types of cold medicine, including “Maxibufen Cold, Cope, Nose,” which contains ibuprofen, which was used only as a painkiller. Hanmi Pharmaceuticals was the first in Korea that the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety commercialized a cold medicine with a related ingredient in January of this year in response to the new inclusion of ibuprofen in the over-the-counter cold medicine standards. In addition to antipyretic and analgesic effects, ibuprofen is expected to be effective in relieving symptoms of colds accompanied by inflammation. Cold, Cope, and Nose each contain ingredients suitable for relieving complex symptoms, coughing, and nasal colds.
Samjin Pharmaceutical (005500) has also launched a new “Rock Cold Comprehensive Syrup” and “Rock Cold Co-op Syrup,” which can be tailored to each symptom. The comprehensive syrup contains antipyretic, expectorant, antitussive, and antihistamine ingredients to relieve the overall symptoms of colds such as fever, cough, phlegm, runny nose, and sore throat. Corp syrup, on the other hand, is a product specialized in relieving respiratory symptoms by focusing on expectorant and antitussive ingredients along with antipyretic and analgesic ingredients.
There have also been pharmaceutical companies that challenged the tea-type comprehensive cold medicine where Halion's TeraFlu has actually continued the solo system. Yuhan Yanghang (000100) has launched “Rapicol Care Dry Syrup,” a comprehensive cold medicine that can be drunk like tea with warm water, and Donghwa Pharmaceutical is preparing to launch “Panpirin Dry Syrup.”
