The Korea Esports Association announced on the 9th that it is launching an open call for cities wishing to host the knockout stage of the 2027 League of Legends World Championship, to be held in Korea in partnership with Riot Games Korea.
The LoL World Championship is the official international tournament that caps the competitive year for League of Legends. Eighteen club teams that achieved top results in their respective regional leagues compete for the world champion title.
This will be the first time Korea hosts the LoL World Championship since 2023, marking a four-year gap. The tournament is scheduled to run for approximately one month starting in late October.
The current recruitment targets the knockout stage specifically. The knockout stage features the top eight teams that advanced through the play-in and Swiss stages, consisting of the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals.
Local governments interested in hosting the 2027 LoL World Championship knockout stage must submit a letter of intent and related documents via the association's official email by 6 p.m. on April 5.
The association plans to receive hosting proposals from local governments that submitted letters of intent, conduct evaluations, and announce the final host city in August.
