A construction worker was killed after being crushed by building materials at a demolition site near Hongdae Red Road in Mapo-gu, Seoul.
According to police on the 6th, the accident occurred around 2 p.m. when a male worker in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, was struck by construction materials at a restaurant demolition site near Hongdae Red Road. The accident reportedly happened when a 2-meter-high cement structure supporting a building wall collapsed while Mr. A was clearing debris.
Mr. A was transported to a nearby hospital in cardiac arrest but was pronounced dead. Other workers were also present at the site at the time of the accident, according to reports.
Police said they will investigate the detailed circumstances of the accident, including whether proper safety measures were implemented at the construction site.
