Yongin City announced Thursday that it is expanding the eligibility for the "Housewarming Customized Essentials Support Program" operated by the Yongin Housing Welfare Center to help housing-vulnerable residents settle stably.
Previously, the program supported only households receiving basic livelihood benefits or basic medical benefits in the following categories: single or couple households with severe disabilities, and single-parent households with minor children only, including grandparent-grandchild families. Starting this year, single or couple households headed by seniors aged 70 or older have been added.
Households newly relocating to Yongin, as well as those moving within the city, are eligible to receive support.
Applications are accepted at the administrative welfare centers of each eup, myeon, and dong of residence. For more information, residents can contact the Yongin Housing Welfare Center or the city hall's Housing Policy Division.
Households selected through screening will receive daily necessities worth up to 100,000 won, including kitchen items, bathroom and sanitary supplies, and cleaning and storage goods. Once recipients select the items they need, the Yongin Housing Welfare Center purchases and delivers them in kind.
"We expect that expanding eligibility will help elderly housing-vulnerable residents who have moved adapt to daily life more quickly and settle stably," an official at the Yongin Housing Welfare Center said. "We will continue to expand customized housing welfare support that citizens can tangibly feel."
