Hankuk Paper (027970.KS), a comprehensive paper manufacturing company, appointed Kang Jun-seok as its new chief executive officer through a shareholders' meeting, the company said Sunday.
Kang plans to focus on strengthening competitiveness across the company's entire product portfolio, including printing paper, information paper (copy paper), specialty paper, and packaging.
Kang is a seasoned professional in the paper industry with more than 30 years of experience spanning strategic marketing, sales, and management across printing paper and packaging sectors. He began his career at Jeonju Paper, a Samsung Group affiliate, in 1991. He went on to serve in printing paper sales and marketing at Hansol Paper, as head of domestic sales at Artone Paper, and as head of marketing and operations at Hansol Development. He was appointed CEO of Hansol PNS in 2018 and CEO of Korea Package in 2024.
Notably, Kang built his expertise entirely within the paper and packaging industry rather than coming from another sector. His deep understanding of sales and customer-facing operations is expected to enable agile responses to market changes while enhancing both product competitiveness and customer service capabilities.
With Kang's appointment, Hankuk Paper plans to accelerate the expansion of its eco-friendly packaging solutions, develop market-leading products using new materials, and advance its quality and customer response systems.
"Hankuk Paper is a company that can respond agilely to changing market demands based on its manufacturing capabilities and customer trust," Kang said. "We will upgrade our existing business portfolio and further solidify competitiveness through product and technology differentiation, while pursuing sustainable growth together with our customers."
