Lotte Rental (089860.KS) said Tuesday it has launched the ninth season of its "Eco-Friendly Donation Driving Campaign," which accumulates donations based on electric vehicle mileage.
The campaign is a customer-participation corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Customers can join by renting an electric vehicle at Lotte Rent-a-Car's Jeju Auto House. For every kilometer driven by EV renters in Jeju, 13 won is accumulated as a donation for children with disabilities.
If the cumulative mileage this year reaches the target of 3.84 million kilometers, 50 million won will be donated. An additional 5 million won will be added for every 1 million kilometers exceeded beyond the target.
The accumulated donations will be used to support mobility rights and rehabilitation assistive devices for children with disabilities, who are considered transportation-vulnerable. Over the past nine years, approximately 25,000 EV rental customers have participated in the campaign, accumulating 360 million won in donations.
Lotte Rental has been expanding its CSR activities, including having employees participate as companion helpers in the "My Car Happy Drive" program, which supports travel for families of children with disabilities. The company also plans to carry out a briquette-sharing volunteer activity at year-end. In addition, GreenCar, a unit of Lotte Rental, provides car-sharing vehicles to support the operations of Save the Children, an international non-governmental organization for children's rights.
"We are continuously pursuing various CSR programs to promote mobility rights and community participation," Lotte Rental CEO Choi Jin-han said. "We ask for participation in this campaign, where simply driving an eco-friendly vehicle can contribute to improving mobility rights for the transportation-vulnerable."
