
Busan Metropolitan City appointed Choi Yeol, professor emeritus at Pusan National University's College of Engineering, as the city's master planner at a ceremony held at City Hall on the 17th.
The appointment aims to strengthen advisory functions for systematically pursuing future city development strategies through urban space innovation.
As master planner, Choi will provide comprehensive planning direction focused on policies and strategies for overall urban space and coordinate major urban planning projects.
Choi graduated from the Department of Public Administration at Pusan National University and earned a master's degree in theoretical public administration from the same institution. He later obtained a doctorate in urban and regional planning from the University of Southern California.
He served as chairman of the city's Urban Planning Committee from 2021 to 2023 and currently serves as a member of the Central Urban Planning Committee under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
