CHANGWON — The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, together with local businesses, donated 110 million won ($79,000) to public safety agencies including police, fire departments, and military units.
The chamber held a ceremony on the 11th at its third-floor conference room to present donations as part of the "Changwon Regional Shared Growth Challenge."
About 40 attendees included Choi Jae-ho, chairman of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Park Il-jun, vice chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Representatives from participating companies such as LG Electronics, Hyosung Heavy Industries, STX Engine, Muhak, and the Admiral Yi Sun-sin Memorial Gunhang Festival Committee also attended.
Public safety officials from the Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency, Changwon Fire Headquarters, Jinhae Naval Education Command, the 39th Infantry Division, Navy Submarine Command, Jinhae Naval Base Command, and Changwon Coast Guard were present.
The funds aim to promote a new entrepreneurial spirit amid rapid industrial changes, expand workplace safety culture, and create a stable business environment based on public safety. The initiative is expected to strengthen public-private partnerships for improving safety conditions and preventing industrial accidents.
"Thanks to the silent dedication of our local firefighters, police officers, and military personnel, our businesses and industrial sites remain safe," Choi said. "I hope this ceremony marks a meaningful step for businesses and public agencies to build a safer community together. We will continue various activities to create safer industrial environments."
