
Samsung Heavy Industries (010140) announced on the 10th that it has secured an order for three crude oil tankers worth 400.1 billion won ($290 million) from a Bermuda-based shipping company.
The vessels are scheduled for sequential delivery by February 2029.
Including this contract, Samsung Heavy Industries' cumulative orders for the year have reached 11 vessels totaling $2.1 billion (approximately 3.0991 trillion won). This represents 15% of the company's annual order target of $13.9 billion. By vessel type, the orders comprise three liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, two ethane carriers, two container ships, and four crude oil tankers.
"Our current cumulative order backlog stands at 137 vessels worth $29.5 billion," a Samsung Heavy Industries official said. "We will continue to pursue profitability-focused orders."
