The Korean Federation of Teachers' Unions released the survey results on Wednesday, based on responses from 7,180 kindergarten, elementary, secondary and special education teachers nationwide. The share of teachers who feel rewarded by their work also remained in the 30% range, and more than half said they had considered resigning over the past year. How has public perception of teachers in Korea, once held in such high regard that students were told not even to step on their teacher's shadow, fallen this far?
▲Song Young-gil, the Democratic Party candidate for the National Assembly by-election in Yeonsu-A, Incheon, said on a YouTube channel Wednesday, "If elected, I will meet with President Lee Jae-myung and consult on what is needed in various areas." When asked by the host about the possibility of running in the party convention in August, he hinted at a bid for party leadership, saying he was "keeping the option open." Song repeatedly stressed his intention to follow the president's lead, saying, "My stance is to take on any role for the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration." Following Seoul mayoral candidate Jung Won-oh and National Assembly Speaker candidate Cho Jung-sik, who will be the next to receive the president's nod as the party leadership candidate?
