LG Uplus, South Korea's third-largest mobile carrier, announced Tuesday that it will revamp its flagship overseas travel product "Roaming Pass" by increasing data allowances by up to twofold. The upgraded Roaming Pass will be available starting May 1, timed to coincide with the early May holiday period.
LG Uplus said it prepared the revamp to ease the burden of roaming costs during the bridge holiday season, when overseas travel demand rises, amid growing travel expenses driven by higher fuel surcharges and a weaker won. Roaming Pass is expected to boost customer satisfaction by offering differentiated "premium peace-of-mind value," unlike low-cost eSIMs or local SIM cards that compete solely on price.
The company also revamped the notification messages sent upon Roaming Pass enrollment. Previously scattered roaming-related information has been consolidated into a concise format, allowing customers to check key details at a glance. Subscribers to certain plan tiers and above will also receive complimentary in-flight Wi-Fi vouchers and insurance covering flight delay compensation, offering end-to-end travel benefits.
Going forward, LG Uplus plans to continue improving its roaming services to enhance customer convenience and strengthen partnership benefits that travelers can enjoy before, during and after their trips.
