Eastar Jet announced Thursday that it obtained the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification on December 30.
The Korean low-cost carrier completed the IOSA evaluation process over approximately one year, passing document reviews and on-site inspections across 920 items in eight categories including flight operations, maintenance, cabin operations, operational control, cargo operations, and aviation security. The airline received final certification under the IOSA Standards Manual (ISM) 17th Edition.
IOSA is an international aviation safety and quality assessment program administered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The program comprehensively evaluates and certifies airlines' overall safety management systems based on assessment standards from major aviation authorities including the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
The IOSA certification is valid for two years. Airlines must continuously maintain compliance with IATA-required standards throughout the certification period.
Eastar Jet plans to conduct regular internal inspections and pursue continuous improvement activities to maintain and strengthen its safety management and operational systems in accordance with IATA international standards.
"This IOSA certification is official recognition that Eastar Jet's safe operation system meets international standards," an Eastar Jet official said. "We will continue to prioritize safety as our foremost value and become an airline that earns the trust of our customers."
