The Korea Forest Service announced Wednesday that it will deploy a high-performance communication command vehicle on a pilot basis to strengthen the systematic command capabilities of its Integrated Wildfire Command Center, in collaboration with the Public Procurement Service.
The Korea Forest Service was solely selected for the Public Procurement Service's innovative product pilot purchase program, and worked closely with private companies to develop a product that addresses field challenges and enhances communication capabilities.
The Korea Forest Service explained that the vehicle will enable smooth on-site control by the field command center through multi-dimensional communication between the command headquarters and wildfire sites (air-to-ground), elimination of communication blind spots in forested areas via Starlink installation planned for the future, and an AI-based 360-degree omnidirectional CCTV control system and speakers.
"The deployment of the high-performance communication command vehicle will enable seamless communication between the command headquarters and wildfire sites, and we expect to establish a safer and faster command system," said Park Eun-sik, Minister of the Korea Forest Service. "After the pilot use, we will maximize equipment operational capabilities at actual wildfire sites."
