Taean County in South Chungcheong Province announced Wednesday that it will operate a specialized tidal flat experience program from April through June at Byeongsulman Fishing Village, where visitors can dig for clams and take walks with their pet dogs.
The program is being carried out in collaboration with the Daejeon-South Chungcheong branch of the Korea Tourism Organization ahead of the "2026 Visit Taean Year." It aims to enhance Taean's brand value as a "pet-friendly tourism city" by leveraging the region's outstanding marine resources and developing differentiated tourism content.
The program will run approximately 15 sessions at Byeongsulman Fishing Village on weekends and public holidays from April to June, timed to match tidal schedules. The first session begins on April 4.
Participants can enjoy tidal flat walks and clam digging with their pets on the scenic beaches of Anmyeondo Island. Commemorative goods will be provided, and equipment such as buckets, hand hoes and hair dryers can be rented on-site.
Pet owners who wish to participate can register through the pet travel platform app "Banryeo Saenghwal." The participation fee is 19,000 won ($14), and the experience lasts approximately two hours including the tidal flat activity.
"We will create the best travel environment for pet families and enhance tourist satisfaction," a county official said. "We will continue to expand differentiated marine experience programs to broaden the foundation for pet-friendly tourism."
The county ran the same program 15 times from April to June last year, drawing 350 pet owners and 201 dogs, and received a strong positive response.
