
A carbon dioxide storage container awaiting delivery exploded at a courier company's warehouse in Nam-gu, Ulsan, on the afternoon of November 11, seriously injuring a worker in his 50s.
According to fire authorities, the CO2 container, estimated to hold approximately 10 liters, ruptured at around 1:43 p.m. at a courier company's storage facility located in Yaeum-dong, Nam-gu.
The explosion sent container fragments flying, severely injuring the leg of a male employee in his 50s who was working nearby. The injured worker was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Police believe the container suddenly ruptured while in storage awaiting delivery. They are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident by interviewing witnesses.
Police also plan to submit the exploded container to the National Forensic Service for analysis. The investigation will focus on potential defects in the manufacturing process, storage conditions, and possible lapses in safety management.
