Kakao Games has released the fifth developer note for "Chrono Odyssey," an action MMORPG being developed by Chrono Studio.
According to the gaming industry on Wednesday, Kakao Games unveiled the fifth developer note for Chrono Odyssey the previous day, outlining a new growth system and convenience improvements. Chrono Odyssey is a PC and console-based open-world action MMORPG, featuring a combat system that leverages time manipulation and a dark fantasy worldview. The development team is overhauling the overall combat refinement and growth design by incorporating user feedback collected to date.
The centerpiece of this developer note is the new growth structure called the "Matrix System." Moving away from a fixed growth route, the Matrix System is designed as a node-based structure that allows users to develop their characters according to their preferred combat style.
Even when using the same class and weapon, combat patterns will differ among users depending on the stats, passive skills, and equipment options they select through the matrix. In addition, when users meet specific growth conditions, they receive additional stats specialized for that combat style, creating differences in skill operation and combat rhythm. "We focused on enabling different combat metas to emerge even among users of the same weapon category," the development team said.
A new "Assistant System" will also be introduced to ease sudden difficulty spikes that may arise during open-world exploration. Users will be able to take on challenges alongside support characters to make combat easier in certain sections. A representative example is an NPC that accompanies users during their first major gateway challenge to assist in combat and lighten the burden.
New features have also been developed to enhance the value of rewards and immersion as users explore the world of Chrono Odyssey and hunt monsters. A new "Monster Equipment" system has been applied, allowing users to obtain equipment that reflects the appearance and characteristics of monsters they defeat across the world. Users can secure uniquely designed equipment by taking down field bosses or specially wanted monsters. Beyond this, the overall play environment experienced by Chrono Odyssey users is expected to improve significantly.
"This update is a step toward simultaneously expanding the depth of combat and the autonomy of character growth," the development team said. "We plan to continue improving the game's quality based on user feedback."
