Lotte Global Logistics announced Thursday that it is advancing on-site safety measures at fire-prone logistics facilities by incorporating cutting-edge technology.
The company conducted a demonstration of its smart evacuation guidance system and joint public-private firefighting drill at the Central Region Mega Hub Terminal in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, on Wednesday.
The demonstration was part of a national research and development project titled "Development of Fire Safety and Risk Management Technology for Logistics Facilities," organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and the Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology last year. The project aims to develop various products that enhance fire response capabilities at logistics facilities. Lotte Global Logistics was selected as a pilot operator for the R&D project in July last year.
The demonstration was conducted in collaboration with the Korea Railroad Research Institute, which is in charge of a detailed R&D task called "Development of Smart Evacuation Support System for Logistics Facilities." The test aimed to verify the on-site effectiveness of "Smart Guide," an evacuation guidance system designed for logistics warehouses.
Lotte Global Logistics is also participating in demonstrations of various fire safety improvement systems included in the R&D project, such as fire shutters with high-performance fabric that blocks heat, finishing methods using flame-retardant materials, and detection facilities that quickly sense smoke and send rapid alerts in refrigerated and frozen warehouses.
"Through this project, we plan to further strengthen our field-centered safety management system and do our utmost to prevent fire accidents," a Lotte Global Logistics official said. "Based on the results of this R&D project, we will actively review introducing these products at logistics centers nationwide in the future."
