Korea Investment & Securities, a subsidiary of Korea Investment Holdings, said Tuesday it has released additional open-source code for trading development using its open application programming interface (API). The update expands the development environment to include investment strategy creation and backtesting capabilities on top of existing AI integration features.

Korea Investment & Securities provides sample code and backtesting tools free of charge through GitHub, an open-source platform for developers. The initiative aims to lower the barrier to algorithmic trading — previously considered the domain of institutional investors and professionals — so that individual investors can also pursue systematic, data-driven investing.
The newly added strategy creation feature allows users to set buy and sell criteria using technical indicators such as moving averages and momentum. Basic strategy examples are also provided. The backtesting feature enables users to review a strategy's returns, loss periods and asset changes based on historical market data. Users can examine the stability and characteristics of actual investment strategies using the provided Python code examples.
The company also strengthened AI integration capabilities. In AI-based development environments such as Claude Code and Cursor, users can input conditions in natural language to generate code or carry out data retrieval and testing tasks.
"As interest in algorithmic trading and AI-based development environments grows, we plan to continue expanding related technologies and open-source resources so that anyone can easily and precisely build their own investment strategies," said Kim Gwan-sik, head of the Digital Innovation Division at Korea Investment & Securities.
