SK Intelix announced on June 6 that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) with security solutions firm S-1 Corporation to pursue vision AI-based security services within the wellness service sector, and will launch a new service integrating security solutions into its wellness robot "Namu X."
The signing ceremony was held on May 30 at SK Intelix's headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, with key executives in attendance including Kim Hyung-jin, head of SK Intelix's Namu X Business Division, and Jin Gil-su, head of S-1's Security Business Division. The two companies agreed to combine S-1's security solutions with SK Intelix's subscription service to strengthen the competitiveness of their "wellness service" offerings and enhance customer value.
"Safe Care," the jointly developed service, is a new concept that combines SK Intelix's AI-based wellness robot technology with S-1's security solutions. The key feature is a mobile security system in which the robot physically moves around to detect situations, overcoming the blind spots inherent in conventional fixed CCTV-based video surveillance.
Starting in May, SK Intelix will offer a mobile AI-based security video service through Namu X. When a user activates "security mode," Namu X autonomously navigates and patrols indoor spaces. If an unregistered visitor appears, the robot recognizes it as an intrusion and records video footage of the scene. Detected incidents are delivered to the user via mobile push notifications, enabling real-time monitoring from outside the premises.
S-1 handles control center verification and emergency response for reported anomalies. The process involves a customer verification procedure to determine whether a genuine emergency exists, and dispatches emergency responders when necessary. The company plans to provide a security service that goes beyond simple detection to deliver actual on-site response.
The two companies plan to expand the scope of their services beyond crime prevention to cover overall daily safety. SK Intelix will enhance AI-based lifestyle features such as real-time video monitoring via a mobile app, fire detection caused by pets, and fall detection. S-1 will build a proactive response system leveraging its control and dispatch expertise, including customer alerts during emergencies, police and ambulance dispatch, and deployment of professional security personnel.
