Mirae Asset Group announced on the 30th that it will introduce energy conservation measures including a vehicle rotation system across all affiliates, in line with the government's push to strengthen energy savings amid the prolonged Middle East crisis.
Starting March 31, Mirae Asset Group will implement a "vehicle fifth-day no-driving system" for all employees across its affiliates. The system covers both company vehicles and commuter cars, restricting driving on designated days based on the last digit of the license plate number. Vehicles ending in 1 or 6 are restricted on Mondays, 2 or 7 on Tuesdays, 3 or 8 on Wednesdays, 4 or 9 on Thursdays, and 5 or 0 on Fridays. Exceptions apply to eco-friendly vehicles such as electric and hydrogen cars, as well as vehicles carrying people with disabilities, pregnant women, or infants. The measure was designed to contribute to overcoming the national energy crisis by limiting vehicle use across the group.
The group will also carry out in-house energy conservation activities. Office lights will be turned off during lunch breaks and after work hours, and common areas such as meeting rooms and pantries will have lights switched off immediately when not in use. Unused computers and monitors will be powered down to reduce electricity waste, and paper use will be minimized in favor of greater use of mobile devices.
The company plans to actively use video conferencing to minimize unnecessary business trips and encourage the use of public transportation, reducing energy consumption during travel. The measures will be operated voluntarily by each affiliate, with a phased mandatory implementation to be considered if necessary.
"In a national crisis where uncertainty over energy supply and demand is growing, it is important for companies to play a responsible role," a Mirae Asset Group official said. "All employees will actively participate in the government's energy conservation policies and put into practice efforts to reduce energy use across daily operations."
