SK ecoplant is establishing an industry-academia-research collaboration framework with 12 participating institutions for AI deep tech open innovation.
SK ecoplant announced on the 18th that it signed a memorandum of understanding to establish the "AI Deep Tech Open Innovation Program" at Hoseo University's Venture Industry-Academia Cooperation Building in Asan, South Chungcheong Province, on the 17th. Representatives from participating companies and institutions attended the signing ceremony, including SK ecoplant, Hoseo University, KAIST, South Chungcheong Province, Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation, Korea Electronics Technology Institute, and SK Securities.
The AI Deep Tech Open Innovation Program is an innovation initiative specialized in deep tech technologies that require long-term intensive research and development and substantial investment capabilities. It aims to develop and commercialize innovative technologies utilizing artificial intelligence (AI). SK ecoplant and Hoseo University will jointly operate the program, with 12 industry-academia-research participants building a comprehensive collaboration framework.
The program consists of four main activities: innovative technology development, participation in government R&D projects, technology commercialization, and professional talent cultivation. For innovative technology development, the program will actively utilize technology competitions including "Tech Open Collaboration," which SK ecoplant operates for startups.
Through this program, SK ecoplant plans to accelerate both the creation of an open innovation ecosystem in the AI deep tech sector and the enhancement of its own "AI infrastructure solution" competitiveness. This year, SK ecoplant is pursuing a growth strategy centered on two core businesses—semiconductors and AI data centers—as it strives to become an "AI infrastructure solution provider."
