A fire broke out at a church in Gwansan-dong, Deokyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province, at around 7:38 p.m. on the 16th.
Fire authorities issued a Level 1 response alert (an emergency mobilization of 31 to 50 units of equipment) approximately 20 minutes after receiving the report, deploying 27 units of equipment and 67 personnel.
Fire authorities reportedly brought the major blaze under control at around 8:50 p.m. and are currently continuing firefighting operations. No casualties have been reported so far.
Goyang-si sent out a disaster safety alert stating, "Vehicles near the fire location are advised to detour via surrounding roads, and nearby residents are urged to exercise caution for their safety."
Police and fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire and the extent of damage after the fire is extinguished.
