A worker in his 20s died after falling at a Celltrion factory in Songdo, Incheon.
According to the Incheon Metropolitan Police Agency's Mobile Investigation Unit and Incheon Fire Department, the man, identified only as "A," fell 3 meters to the ground at approximately 11:04 a.m. on May 22 at a building within the Celltrion factory complex in Songdo-dong, Yeonsu-gu. He was found in cardiac arrest and transported to a hospital while receiving emergency treatment, but was pronounced dead.
A was reportedly conducting pipe leak repair work on ceiling panels when the incident occurred. The accident happened when the panels gave way under the weight.
Labor authorities immediately issued a work stoppage order and are investigating potential violations of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. "A is believed to have been a day laborer, and further investigation is needed to determine his exact employer," a police official said. "We plan to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service and investigate whether safety protocols were followed by interviewing personnel at the site."
