CJ ENM (035760.KS) has joined forces with JYP Entertainment's Chinese subsidiary JYP CHINA and Tencent Music Entertainment (TME), China's largest music platform, to expand into the Greater China music market.
CJ ENM announced Thursday that it has established a joint venture with NCC Entertainment, a company co-founded by JYP CHINA and TME, to launch full-scale global artist operations centered on the Greater China region. The establishment of "Onecead" is a strategic decision to systematically support artist activities and cover the entire business spectrum including music production, performances, and commerce.
CJ ENM has prior experience successfully establishing artist management and music operations in Japan through its joint venture Lapone Entertainment. Lapone artists JO1 and INI have built solid fandoms and public recognition primarily in Japan while also expanding their influence across Asia and global markets. Through this, CJ ENM has proven its capability to operate artists optimized for local markets while connecting them to global expansion.
Onecead represents a strategic move to extend this successful global joint venture model to the Greater China region. The combination of CJ ENM's content and music production capabilities with NCC's strong local infrastructure and network is expected to significantly strengthen competitiveness in the global artist business centered on Greater China.
Onecead will be responsible for all activities and management of debut groups formed through original survival programs on global content platform Mnet Plus. The seven-member global boy group Modyssey (Hengyu, Panzer, Lizhao, Linlin, Suren, Yichen, Rowan), which debuted late last year, is Onecead's first project.
"This is highly significant as we are now fully launching an artist business to lead the global market together with local partners optimized for the Greater China market," a CJ ENM official said. "Through Onecead, we will complete an artist business model that global fandoms can relate to."
