Nexen Tire will supply tires for Renault Korea's new vehicle. The company has proven its competitiveness by leveraging technology tailored to electrified vehicles and extending its supply reach to export markets.
Nexen Tire said Sunday that it will supply its Roadian GTX as original equipment (OE) tires for Renault Korea's crossover vehicle "Philante." The product is a 19-inch all-season tire designed specifically for sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and crossover utility vehicles (CUVs).
The Philante is a hybrid-based strategic model combining sedan and SUV characteristics. Its powertrain, which uses both an electric motor and an internal combustion engine, requires complex performance attributes including low noise, grip and wear resistance. Nexen Tire's latest supply deal is seen as proof that the company has secured the technological capability to serve electrified vehicles.
The Roadian GTX features a wide tread with zigzag patterns that distribute pressure evenly. Precision load design enhances grip. The tire also adopts an optimized pattern block arrangement for low-noise performance, meeting the quietness demanded by electrified vehicles. Notably, this supply covers not only models sold domestically but also export volumes destined for Latin America and the Middle East.
Nexen Tire has been strengthening its partnership with Renault Korea, following its supply for the Grand Koleos in 2024 with this latest Philante deal. Since beginning OE supply to overseas automakers in 2012, the company has expanded its supply network to include premium brands such as Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi, as well as global automakers including Stellantis and Volkswagen.
"We are continuously advancing our tire technology to meet the future mobility environment where electrification and artificial intelligence converge," a Nexen Tire official said. "We will strengthen strategic partnerships with global automaker brands to expand our market presence."
