LG Electronics (066570.KS) has launched the "LG Supreme Plus," a commercial stand air conditioner with significantly improved energy efficiency designed to reduce electricity costs for small business owners. The product targets demand for commercial HVAC replacements amid persistent inflation, combining enhanced performance with improved space utilization.
On Thursday, LG Electronics said it released the Supreme Plus commercial stand air conditioner in three lineups based on rated cooling capacity: 11 kW (30-pyeong), 13 kW (36-pyeong) and 14.5 kW (40-pyeong).
The product's strongest competitive edge is its overwhelming energy efficiency. It is the only commercial stand air conditioner of equivalent capacity currently sold in Korea to earn a Grade 1 energy efficiency rating. Equipped with high-efficiency inverter technology, it achieved Grade 1 ratings for both cooling and heating.
According to LG Electronics, the Supreme Plus can reduce annual operating costs by up to 31% compared to the company's existing premium commercial model. The unit also features a "Comfort Energy Saving" function that automatically analyzes indoor temperature and humidity to adjust cooling and dehumidification, eliminating unnecessary power waste.
Space utilization and user convenience have been elevated to residential air conditioner standards. The new model's dimensions (70 cm wide, 44 cm deep and 184 cm tall) represent a roughly 40% reduction in volume compared to the existing 14.5 kW Grade 1 model, allowing easy and stylish installation in small shops, offices, factories and other spaces. It also comes equipped with customized airflow control features including "Soft Breeze" that avoids blowing directly on the body, "Wide Breeze" that wraps air around the space, and "Ice Cool Power" that cools 23% faster than standard cooling mode.
Hygiene management convenience has also been enhanced. An automatic ventilation function that dries internal moisture after operation and a heat exchanger cleaning function come as standard, reducing concerns about mold and odors. Customers who use the product through LG's appliance subscription service receive regular visits from care specialists for inspections and filter replacements, as well as complimentary after-sales service during the subscription period.
Meanwhile, small business owners can significantly reduce upfront purchase costs through a government subsidy program. The Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment provides subsidies covering 40% of the purchase price (up to 1.6 million won, approximately $1,100) when small business owners install new Grade 1 energy-efficient HVAC systems. The program, which began in February, has already consumed about 35% of its budget, suggesting business owners should act before funds run out.
