(Exclusive) Which stocks are the top 1% super traders picking? What should you buy right now?
High-return investors trading through Mirae Asset Securities (006800.KS) bought the most shares of Samsung Electronics (005930.KS), SK hynix (000660.KS) and Celltrion (068270.KS), in that order, on the morning of the 24th, according to the brokerage's data.
Among Mirae Asset Securities' stock trading clients, the "super traders" — those ranking in the top 1% by investment returns over the past month — purchased Samsung Electronics the most by 11 a.m. that day, the firm said.
Samsung Electronics was trading at 186,800 won as of 11 a.m., up 0.27% from the previous session. The gains came after U.S. President Donald Trump pulled back his "48-hour ultimatum" against Iran overnight and delayed airstrikes by five days, sending international oil prices plunging more than 10% and lifting New York markets broadly. Samsung Electronics' investor sentiment recovered accordingly, with shares surging as high as 198,200 won during the session.
On Wall Street overnight, major tech stocks rallied — Nvidia rose 1.70%, Tesla gained 3.50% and Amazon climbed 2.32% — while the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index advanced 1.34%. The S&P 500 closed 1.15% higher at 6,581.00. The Nasdaq finished up 1.38% at 21,946.76 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 1.38% to 46,208.47, with all three major indexes closing higher.
SK hynix followed as the second-most purchased stock. At the same time, SK hynix was trading at 945,000 won, up 1.29% from the previous close. Kim Seok-hwan, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, noted that Korea's semiconductor sector "rebounded as easing tensions related to the Iran conflict alleviated concerns over supply disruptions of key materials." Individual investors have purchased 10.7239 trillion won and 4.1347 trillion won worth of Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, respectively, since the start of March (as of the 23rd).
The third-most purchased stock was Celltrion (068270.KS), which was trading 1.17% higher from the previous session. Celltrion held its annual general shareholders' meeting on the morning of the day, with Chairman Suh Jung-jin returning as meeting chairman for the first time in 11 years since 2015. "Our company is an export-oriented business that is not affected by oil prices, and our prescription drug-focused business is not affected by economic cycles," Suh said. "I do not believe the current stock price is overvalued relative to our performance."
The most net-sold stocks of the day were LegoChem Biosciences (141080.KQ), Wonik IPS (240810.KQ) and AD Technology (200710.KQ). On the previous trading day, the most net-purchased stocks were SK hynix, KEPCO KPS (051600.KS) and DL E&C (375500.KS), while the most net-sold were ITcen Global (124500.KQ), Hyundai Motor (005380.KS) and Taesung (323280.KQ).
Mirae Asset Securities compiles trading data of its top 1% clients by returns over the past month and publishes the information in real-time, previous-day and five-day formats on its mobile trading system (MTS).
