Local churches have pooled funds and donated development money to Hannam University to nurture global missionary talent.
Hannam University announced on the 23rd that 12 regional churches participating in the "Hannam Global Missionary Talent Project" donated 76 million won in development funds to Hannam University President Lee Seung-chul on the 19th. Cumulative donations have now reached 237.6 million won.
The "Hannam Global Missionary Talent Project," first launched in 2022, aims to carry on the founding spirit of the American Southern Presbyterian missionaries who established Hannam University and to train and dispatch global missionary talent.
The project recruits next-generation Christian leaders recommended from overseas mission fields and educates them as future pastors and Christian leaders in Hannam University's Department of Christian Studies. Local churches provide financial support and faith training for the international students. Overseas mission fields, the university, and local churches are creating a new missionary model for cultivating local Christian leaders.
Each year, seven international students are selected and trained for four years in Hannam University's Department of Christian Studies before being dispatched as local missionaries under the sponsoring churches' names.
Hannam University President Lee Seung-chul said, "It is meaningful and gratifying that Hannam University is participating in the Global Missionary Talent Project, which carries forward the dedication of the American Southern Presbyterian missionaries." He added, "We will cherish the generosity of the local churches and strive to nurture outstanding missionary talent and Christian leaders."
