
The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AmCham) held its 2026 Board of Directors Inauguration Ceremony jointly with Qualcomm Technologies at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on the 20th, the organization announced on the 22nd.
The event, themed "AI Closer to You," drew approximately 800 attendees including Acting US Ambassador to Korea James Heller and Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo.
AmCham Chairman and CEO James Kim said in his opening remarks, "While AI is rapidly reshaping industrial structures, the foundation of Korea-US economic cooperation ultimately lies in people, trust, and shared values." He added, "This year, marking the 250th anniversary of America's founding, is an important time to reflect on the meaning of bilateral cooperation."
Kim continued, "Korea-US cooperation will grow even closer based on accumulated innovation and partnership. Collaboration with global technology companies like Qualcomm will play a crucial role in next-generation technological innovation including AI and creating new economic opportunities."
Qualcomm Asia-Pacific President and AmCham Vice Chairman Oh-hyung Kwon said, "We recently announced 6G cooperation with over 60 partners at Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona. Building on our collaboration with Korea, we will jointly lead the development of the next-generation 6G ecosystem."
A demo zone at the venue showcased various devices based on Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform, drawing significant interest from attendees.
