
Lee Ki-hyung, preliminary candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea for Gimpo mayor, announced on the 13th that he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Gyeyang-Ganghwa Expressway held on the 12th.
The event was attended by Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Kim Yun-deok and Democratic Party lawmakers Kim Joo-young, Park Sang-hyuk, Park Chan-dae, Maeng Seong-gyu, and Mo Kyung-jong to show support for the expansion of transportation infrastructure in the northwestern metropolitan area.
"This is an important project that opens a new transportation network in the northwestern metropolitan area," Lee said. "It will serve as an opportunity to further advance Gimpo's transportation environment."
"Gimpo is a city that has surpassed 500,000 residents and will soon leap to become a major city of 700,000," he continued. "Expansion of the metropolitan transportation network and swift construction and opening of the Gyeyang-Ganghwa Expressway are absolutely necessary. I will work to ensure Gimpo grows into a transportation hub with well-connected railways and roads."
"As a preliminary candidate for Gimpo mayor, I will do my best to improve citizens' quality of life through transportation innovation and help Gimpo leap forward as a central city in the northwestern metropolitan area," Lee emphasized. "I will create the path to Gimpo's great leap forward together with citizens."
