Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-sun announced his commitment to transform the company into "a technology company leading the physical AI era that takes responsibility for all daily movements."
Kakao Mobility said on the 13th that CEO Ryu sent a company-wide letter to employees on the 12th, presenting a vision of "leaping forward as a physical AI-based future mobility company."
"We will secure technological sovereignty and compete on equal footing with global players to lead the future mobility market," Ryu said. "The physical AI strategy is both the company's direction and a roadmap that will create powerful synergy with existing businesses."
Ryu believes that the data and technological infrastructure Kakao Mobility has accumulated through digital transformation across the mobility industry will become core competitive advantages for achieving physical AI.
The CEO specifically cited Kakao Mobility's unique assets: data assets and quality systems refined to AI-trainable levels from vast movement information, map and road network data reflecting daily real-world road changes, operational standardization capabilities that have systematized complex variables from dispatch to settlement, and hub and operational infrastructure that will determine future service economics and scalability.
Kakao Mobility plans to pursue simultaneous advancement of existing services and future technologies in line with its new vision. The company also intends to internalize core technologies and secure technological self-sufficiency.
"The autonomous driving capabilities we have built over the past five years through broad partnerships and investments have now become our unique assets," Ryu said. "We plan to internalize physical AI core technologies and build unparalleled technological competitiveness spanning from software to hardware control."
Ryu also expressed his determination to "remain open to cooperation while securing optimized technological sovereignty for our environment, without relying solely on external parties for core capabilities and leadership."
The CEO urged all employees to "participate with pride so that we can establish ourselves as Korea's representative physical AI-based technology company."
