Busan Metropolitan City is appointing new members to its Sports Promotion Council to strengthen its advisory function on sports policy.
The city announced it will hold an inauguration ceremony for 15 new members of the Busan Sports Promotion Council at City Hall's small conference room 2 on the 13th.
The Sports Promotion Council is an advisory body established under the National Sports Promotion Act and Busan's Sports Promotion Ordinance. It provides consultation and advice on the city's overall sports policies, including establishing sports promotion plans, policy implementation, international sports exchanges, and sports industry development.
The council consists of 15 members. Mayor Park Hyung-joon serves as chairman, while Jang In-hwa, president of the Busan Sports Council, serves as vice chairman.
The newly appointed members comprise sports experts with diverse field experience, including city council members, education office officials, academic society and association representatives, athletes, coaches, and professors.
Members serve two-year terms with one possible reappointment. The city selected members through an open recruitment process conducted in January. Mayor Park and Chairman Jang will attend the ceremony.
The council will serve as an advisory and deliberative body in establishing the city's sports promotion plans and function as a consultative organization for overall municipal sports policy.
"The newly appointed members are experts who have been active in various sports fields," Mayor Park said. "I expect them to play an active role in establishing accessible sports policies that all citizens can easily participate in and enjoy."
