The Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTaQ) announced on the 12th that it successfully completed quality certification firing tests for the 'Chun-gum,' an air-to-ground guided missile designed for light armed helicopters.
Quality certification firing tests are procedures that verify whether the performance of guided weapon systems established during the research and development phase is identically replicated in actual mass-produced units. This is a critical step for final confirmation of quality and reliability before deployment.
The test was conducted on the 10th at the Anheung Test Center in Taean, South Chungcheong Province, with participation from a quality certification firing test council comprising experts from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, DTaQ, Agency for Defense Development, the Army, and Hanwha Aerospace.
Chun-gum, Korea's first domestically developed air-to-ground guided missile completed in 2022, will now enter full-scale mass production following the successful test. Deployment is scheduled for the second quarter of this year.
A DTaQ official stated, "As a result of testing under conditions simulating military operational environments, Chun-gum accurately hit its target."
