Musical actor Nam Kyung-joo has been referred to prosecutors on charges of sexually assaulting a woman.
Seoul Bangbae Police Station announced on the 11th that it had sent Nam to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office last month without detention on charges of rape by occupational authority.
Nam is accused of sexually assaulting a woman identified as "A" in Seoul last year. The victim reportedly escaped the scene and reported the incident to police. While Nam denied the allegations during the police investigation, authorities determined the charges were substantiated and forwarded the case to prosecutors.
Nam Kyung-joo is a first-generation musical actor representing South Korea and currently serves as a professor in the Department of Performing Arts at Hongik University.
