Power US is a drone specialist headquartered in the United States. The company possesses drone technology capable of carrying loads up to 1,000 pounds (approximately 430 kg). It operates primarily in the agricultural drone sector, including pesticide spraying, while targeting the commercial market including logistics.
American Ventures, which involves Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump—the two sons of US President Donald Trump—and Unusual Machines, where Trump Jr. serves as a shareholder and advisory board member, have previously invested in Power US. KCGI explained that they are passive investors not involved in management.
Power US announced a merger agreement with Nasdaq-listed Aureus Greenway Holdings on March 9 (local time). KCGI is set to secure the position of second-largest shareholder in the merged entity.
KCGI has been in investment discussions with Power US, drawn by its competitive strengths. In November last year, KCGI invited the company's management to Korea and explored potential partnerships with approximately 20 domestic drone, aviation, and component companies.
Power US had originally planned to outsource production to China, a dominant force in the drone industry. However, following persistent persuasion by KCGI Chairman Kang Sung-boo, the company reportedly shifted course toward partnering with Korean parts and manufacturing firms.
KCGI plans to work with Power US to establish a domestic drone manufacturing base and will consider follow-on investments as needed. Through this arrangement, the company aims to build a collaborative structure where the US handles market development and orders while Korea handles production, contributing to a globally competitive drone industry ecosystem.
