Law firm Hwawoo has recruited former presiding judge Yoon Mi-rim, a family court specialist, to strengthen its family and inheritance dispute practice.
Hwawoo announced on the 11th that it has brought on former presiding judge Yoon (38th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute) as a partner attorney.
Attorney Yoon served as a judge for approximately 17 years starting in 2009, handling family court cases for seven of those years. After being appointed as a family court specialist judge at Seoul Family Court in 2021, she worked at Seoul Family Court and Daejeon Family Court, handling family cases including divorce, property division, parental rights and custody, inheritance distribution, statutory share claims, and adult guardianship.
Hwawoo pursued this recruitment to strengthen its service capabilities in response to the recent increase in family and inheritance disputes, particularly among corporate owner families and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. Attorney Yoon will handle family litigation including divorce cases, as well as inheritance disputes such as estate distribution and statutory share claims at Hwawoo. She also plans to participate in inheritance-related cases connected to corporate control disputes. This is expected to enhance the quality of the firm's "integrated family management" services, which proactively manage potential risks that may arise during business succession processes.
Lee Myung-soo, managing partner of Hwawoo, said, "The recruitment of Attorney Yoon will serve as an opportunity for Hwawoo to secure expertise in family, inheritance, and management rights disputes, and to provide clients with value beyond just winning cases."
