Rep. Han Jun-ho of the Democratic Party of Korea, a close ally of President Lee Jae-myung, sharply criticized claims made on the YouTube channel "Kim Ou-joon's News Factory" as "conspiracy theories not even worth tabloid gossip attacking the Lee Jae-myung government."
The criticism came after the program alleged that a senior government official had requested prosecutors drop charges related to the president while criticizing the government's prosecution reform plan.
In a Facebook post on the 10th, Rep. Han wrote, "How can you casually spread groundless conspiracy theories worse than street rumors on a broadcast, attacking the Lee Jae-myung government and dividing party members and citizens?"
Earlier that morning, Jang In-su, a former MBC reporter, claimed on the program that "a senior government official sent messages to multiple high-ranking prosecutors saying 'It is the president's will, so drop the charges,'" raising allegations of improper dealings between the Lee government and prosecutors.
Jang added, "I heard that one of the senior prosecutors who received the message told them to go through proper procedures and chain of command." He continued, "The prosecution would naturally think, 'The Lee Jae-myung government wants to make a deal with us.'"
When host Kim Ou-joon remarked, "These days there are many people selling the president's will," Jang responded, "Anyway, it was conveyed by a very high-ranking government official with the authority and ability to take such responsibility."
Rep. Han countered these claims, stating, "President Lee was relentlessly attacked and torn apart by political prosecutors under the Yoon Suk-yeol regime." He added, "Yet he endured, and his innocence has been confirmed in related trials."
"Now we are uncovering the political prosecutors' atrocities one by one and holding them accountable," Han continued. "Work is also underway to correct the judicial system distorted by the Yoon Suk-yeol regime through dropping charges."
Addressing Jang directly, Han demanded, "If this is true, reveal everything without omission—who said it, how it was delivered, and what evidence confirms it." He added, "Spreading such conspiracy theories against the president and government without evidence is not criticism but blatant political agitation."
