Day-Night Temperature Gap Reaches 15 Degrees Amid Cloudy Skies Nationwide

South Korea will see mostly cloudy skies on Wednesday, December 11, with day-night temperature differences reaching around 15 degrees Celsius, particularly in inland areas.

Morning lows will range from minus 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, while afternoon highs will reach 7 to 13 degrees, near or slightly below seasonal averages. Most regions will see sub-zero morning temperatures, with Gangwon Province's inland and mountainous areas dropping to minus 5 degrees or lower. Frost is expected in central inland regions and inland areas of Jeolla Province from dawn through morning.

Light rainfall of less than 0.1 millimeters is forecast for the western coastal areas of Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and northern South Chungcheong Province from morning to afternoon. The West Sea Five Islands may receive up to 5 millimeters of rain, while Ulleungdo and Dokdo are expected to see approximately 1 millimeter.

Dry weather advisories have been issued for the eastern coastal areas of southern Daegu and North Gyeongsang Province, as well as the southern coastal areas of Busan, Ulsan, and central South Gyeongsang Province. Other parts of the Gyeongsang region will also experience dry conditions with somewhat strong winds, requiring caution against fire hazards.

Air quality will deteriorate across most regions as residual fine dust and domestically generated particulate matter accumulate due to atmospheric stagnation. Fine dust levels are forecast at "unhealthy" for Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, western Gangwon Province, Daejeon, Sejong, North Chungcheong Province, Daegu, North Gyeongsang Province, and Ulsan. Other areas will see "moderate" levels, though Incheon, eastern Gangwon Province, South Chungcheong Province, North Jeolla Province, Busan, and South Gyeongsang Province may experience "unhealthy" levels through the morning.

Sea conditions will bring waves of 0.5 to 1.5 meters in nearshore East Sea waters, 0.5 meters in the West Sea, and 0.5 to 1.0 meters in the South Sea. Offshore waters within approximately 200 kilometers of the coastline will see wave heights of 0.5 to 2.0 meters in the East Sea and 0.5 to 1.5 meters in the West and South Seas.
