
Kim Dong-hwan, professor of rehabilitation medicine at Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong, was elected the seventh president of the Korean Society of Cancer Rehabilitation at the organization's 12th annual academic conference. His two-year term runs from March 2027 to February 2029.
The Korean Society of Cancer Rehabilitation is a professional academic organization dedicated to managing various physical and functional issues arising during cancer treatment and researching rehabilitation therapies to improve patients' quality of life. The society contributes to advancing cancer rehabilitation through research on treatment methods for post-cancer complications including pain, lymphedema, muscle weakness, and functional impairment, as well as developing clinical guidelines and conducting academic activities.
Kim graduated from Kyung Hee University College of Medicine and earned his master's and doctoral degrees from the same institution's graduate school. He currently serves as professor of rehabilitation medicine at Kyung Hee University Hospital at Gangdong. He previously held positions including education director of the Korean Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine and chairman of the Korean Society of Sports Science and Exercise Medicine, and served as secretary general of the Korean Society of Cancer Rehabilitation before his current role as vice president.
"I will do my utmost together with the society to improve cancer patients' quality of life and advance systematic rehabilitation treatment," Kim said.
