Korea University's Sejong Campus announced Thursday that L&P Cosmetic Chairman Kwon Oh-seob has pledged an additional 2 billion won ($1.4 million) over the next four years to support student welfare and university development.
Kwon committed to donating 500 million won annually for four years, the university said.
The chairman previously donated 1 billion won for the renovation of the Sejong Campus student center, establishing "Mediheal Hall" to support student activities.
The latest pledge aims to continue improving the university's educational environment and talent development programs.
Kwon's cumulative donations to Korea University now total approximately 25.1 billion won. He began his philanthropic relationship with the university in 2016 with a 12 billion won contribution to construct the "Mediheal Global Environment Hall." Since then, he has supported athletic development funds, scholarships, and the rugby team.
In 2023, he donated 5 billion won to the medical development fund, contributing to the establishment of "Mediheal Hall" auditorium at Anam Hospital's new wing.
Kwon has long embraced the belief that "giving is not a choice but a responsibility," a principle instilled by his late mother, Yoo Im-soon. He has carried forward her teachings through sustained contributions to society and future generations.
The university expects Mediheal Hall at the Sejong Campus student center to serve as a cultural hub where students can inherit the spirit of challenge, responsibility, and sharing.
