A comprehensive one-stop support system enabling illegal private lending victims to halt debt collection and receive legal assistance with a single report took effect on the 9th.
Financial Services Commission Chairman Lee Eok-won held a meeting at the Integrated Financial Support Center for Working-class Citizens in Jung-gu, Seoul on the same day, stating, "The most important thing in remedying illegal private lending damage is rapid response."
Previously, victims had to visit multiple agencies including the Financial Supervisory Service, police, and Credit Counseling and Recovery Service to request relief. Now, through the one-stop support system at the Integrated Financial Support Center for Working-class Citizens, victims can receive debt collection suspension, legal support, debt restructuring, and welfare service referrals all at once.
The Credit Counseling and Recovery Service will deploy 17 dedicated personnel for illegal private lending cases at Integrated Financial Support Centers for Working-class Citizens nationwide to provide comprehensive support. To accelerate processing, the computer systems of the Financial Supervisory Service, Credit Counseling and Recovery Service, and Korea Legal Aid Corporation will be linked, and an integrated online reporting platform will be launched in the second half of this year.
