
The Korea Economic Research Association announced on the 8th that it has appointed Professor Suh Eun-sook of Sangmyung University's School of Economics and Finance as its 24th president. The term is one year.
President Suh graduated from Sangmyung University's Department of Economics and earned a master's degree in economics from Sogang University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas in the United States. She previously served as a researcher at the Bank of Korea's Economic Research Institute and the Korea Capital Market Institute, and as a member of the Korea Investment Corporation (KIC) operating committee. She currently serves as a professor at Sangmyung University's School of Economics and Finance.
In her inaugural address, President Suh stated, "The Korean economy is facing a complex crisis due to high exchange rates, a dual growth structure, and the emergence of agentic artificial intelligence (AI)." She added, "During my term, I will develop transition strategies for the digital and AI economy era and seek measures to restore the middle class through revitalization of the domestic economy."
