Woori Bank has partnered with LG Uplus to provide special voice phishing prevention training for foreign students residing in South Korea. The initiative aims to proactively address the surge in financial fraud targeting international students.
Woori Bank announced on the 8th that it conducted voice phishing prevention training for foreign students at Yonsei University's Mirae Campus in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the 5th of this month. The session was delivered in Chinese to enhance effectiveness for students who previously faced barriers accessing information due to language limitations.
Woori Bank explained financial fraud prevention strategies and methods used by scammers impersonating institutions. LG Uplus introduced telecommunications environments exploited for voice phishing and recent blocking measures. Students learned practical response methods applicable to real-life situations beyond simple theory.
One student who attended the lecture said, "By encountering actual cases in Chinese, I was able to understand the structure of voice phishing at a glance."
A Woori Bank official said, "Foreign students can be vulnerable to financial fraud due to language and institutional differences," adding, "We will continue to expand prevention activities for foreign customers through collaboration with various organizations."
