A fire broke out on the second floor of a gold and silver shop building in Seoul's Jongno jewelry district at approximately 1:21 p.m. on the 5th.
The Jongno Fire Station fully extinguished the blaze at 4:18 p.m. the same day. No casualties were reported, and 37 people evacuated on their own.
Fire authorities had received reports of black smoke emanating from the second floor of a two-story wooden commercial building in the jewelry district. They deployed 91 personnel and 25 vehicles to combat the fire.
Jongno District sent emergency text alerts notifying residents of the fire, advising that "nearby vehicles should take alternate routes and residents should take safety precautions."
Fire authorities plan to investigate the exact cause of the fire.
