LG CNS announced on the 5th that it is launching a compact data center business called "AI Box," which can house 576 graphics processing units (GPUs) in a single container.
AI Box requires no separate building construction, reducing deployment time to approximately six months. Traditional data center construction typically takes about two years. Based on a standardized packaged model, the solution can quickly meet demand from domestic and international corporate customers requiring rapid data center deployment. The modular approach also provides excellent scalability. AI Box can operate as a single container unit or be expanded into a hyperscale AI data center by progressively combining dozens of containers.
AI Box consists of an electrical room handling power infrastructure and a computer room serving as the IT equipment operation space. The electrical room houses uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), transformers, and switchboards. The computer room contains servers, GPUs, and cooling equipment. Each AI Box unit provides 1.2 megawatts (MW) of server power and can accommodate up to 576 GPUs.
LG CNS will construct its first AI Box at the Busan Global Cloud Data Center site. The company plans to build a large-scale campus integrating 50 AI Box units on a 27,179-square-meter site to meet domestic AI infrastructure demand.
